The term video production is used to refer to the process used during the creation of the video content. In one way or the other, the video production process may be similar to the film making process. However, there may exist some differences. With the video production process, the things such as the images are recorded digitally which is not the case with the filmmaking process which utilizes the film stocks. Three stages are usually involved in the process of video production. The pre-production, production and the post-production are the stages of the video production process.
The pre-production stages generally involve all activities related to planning. The planning activities are usually related to the process of video production prior to the filming activities. The writing of the scripts, planning for the necessary schedules and making of the necessary schedules are good example of some of these activities. The same also includes any other duty that may be administrative. The next stage in the video production process is production. This is the stage that involves the actual creation of the video content. What may entails the content of the video may be images or moving images. The name given for the purpose of describing this process is videography. The third stage is the post production stage. The post-production stage generally encompasses combining of a number of video clips that were created during the production stage. So as to create the best content for the video, the process of combining is usually selective. In the video production process, the ultimate product is actually created in this stage. This product is the one which then tells the story or gives a communication of the intended message. A live setting may be used for this purpose or it may be communicated later after the event.
During the video production process, a number of electronic medias may be used. A good example of such may include the SD cards, the solid state storages or the flash storages. The main electronic media that is used during the process of video production is camera. So as to distribute the video content after the video production process, a number of formats are used. A good example of such formats may be the Moving Pictures Expert Group-MPEG and the Audio Video Interleave-AVI.
The process of video production may produce a various types of videos. A good example of the common videos produced during the video production process may be the event videos, corporate videos, marketing videos or the videos produced for the purpose of TV production. Each type of video is made for a particular reason. Capturing of the memories may be a good example of such a reason whereby the events videos may be used for this reason. This may be a sporting event or a wedding.
